1967 OMEGA SEAMASTER 120

  • Created in 1966 (with limited release?), introduced to the (general) public in 1967, The watch has a matt black dial that has white text, and white minute circle strokes, tritium baton hands and lumonous hour markers, a black 0 to 60 bi-directional serrated bezel without notches, a luminous dot (pip) at zero, has a reinforced crystal (plexi), a barrel shaped stainless steel (EPSA )  case that is waterproof (now referred to as "resistant") to 120 meters which was later reduced to 60 meters on later models (1968/69). It has polished lugs, a screw down case back that has a chemically engraved (not etched/stamped) Hippocampus Omega logo (Seahorse) and text "SEAMASTER 120 WATERPROOF.

  • Vintage OMEGA Seamaster and their gaskets  OMEGA used a rubber gasket of the type that had proven its abilities in submarines during the Second World War.The Swiss Laboratory for Watch Research independently tested 50 cases of the Seamaster at a simulated depth of 60 meters. After temperature changes of -40ยฐ C to 50ยฐ C in quick succession, the cases showed no sign of water infiltration.

unfortunately I am afraid of buying one as there are so many Frankens made from donor movements and NOS case/dial/hands/bezel parts floating around, that scares me a bit.

finding vintage NOS parts is possible BUT difficult if not next to impossible, majority of the parts are bits and pieces from other Omega watches that use similar parts and or donor 120 watches which re sellers tend to do . There are LOADS of AFTERMARKET ...

Unfortunately, I simply donโ€™t have the confidence nor the patience to collect vintage, which is why Iโ€™m a huge fan of re-editions. I would love it if Omega would do a re-edition if this one!๐Ÿคž Enjoy this stunner!๐Ÿฅ‚
